Are you overwhelmed with feelings of negativity and stress

Are you feeling overwhelmed with negativity and stress, and don’t know how to deal with it? I hear people struggling with these feelings, and most of the time, they feel completely worthless and helpless. They have no idea how to overcome negative thoughts and get rid of negativity.  

Change What You Can:

Today, I want to remind you that you don’t have control over your circumstances, but you do have control over your reactions and your choices. This morning, I woke up to a beautiful message from one of the Mindful Hearts volunteers, and it just absolutely made my day because she had a very challenging situation where she had to get on a phone with a person that is extremely aggressive and negative, and she has had dilemmas in the past where she had lost her temper with this individual. What she did is what we stress in the Mindful Hearts Academy. 

You can’t just put the blame on another person. 

You can’t just say, “Well, they’re just horrible people.”

Or, “This was just a very bad situation and I had no other choice.”

She applied the following strategies that I teach on Mindful Hearts:

  1. She recognized the pattern. We all have patterns of behavior. Someone may have the pattern of getting angry really quickly. Another person may have the pattern of showing off. Another person may have the pattern of just being shy, quiet, awkward and never getting engaged. We have to first recognize these patterns and she did that. 
  1. Next, she programmed herself. What really touched my heart was that she wrote on a piece of paper, “Calm and collective like sister Haleh”. What does this do? It programs your mind. It programs you to help you understand how you want to behave.

You don’t just say, “Oh, I know I’m going to lose it.” 

“Oh, this person just presses my buttons, I know I’m going to get angry. I’ve gotten angry in the past and that’s exactly how I’m going to be today.”

No. 

She programmed herself and said, “I’m going to be calm and collective.” 

  1. Have mentors: Thirdly, it is important to have mentors in your life for you to look upto, to model your behaviour and reactions and to learn ways to relieve stress. We have to have individuals that we feel like modeling. When you find someone who is successful in business, or you want to be successful in business, you find a successful person who is making it and crushing it.

Right? 

And when you have that person as a role model, you learn from them, apply their techniques, and aim for similar results. 

In the same way, if someone has a really fit body, you are intrigued and want to find out what they are eating and what kind of exercises they perform. And you do the exact same things. Right?

And what happens when you do that?

You might, more often than not, get the same results. 

When you follow the same recipe for an amazing chocolate cake, what are you going to get every time? You’re going to get that same result. 

So it’s about having a mentor, someone that you can learn from and say, “You know what? I like this behavior. And I want to be that way.”

And when she did that, mashallah tabarakallah, throughout the whole conversation, she kept her calm. She didn’t react. And she was successful.

What’s your response?

We can’t always change our circumstances but we can choose to change our responses. You know, a lot of times people get angry and frustrated. They yell and scream. And what is the result of that? It’s terrible. You just caused a lot of damage and then you have to do damage control. But if you start applying this methodology of recognizing your pattern and being calm and collective, you can make massive changes to several negative energies that are plaguing your mind. 

So, let’s begin with you.

What’s your pattern?

What pattern have you noticed in your life? What kind of patterns do you have when you get into an argument? Do you have a tendency to become defensive? As soon as someone says something remotely negative about you, do you become defensive? If you answered yes, then know that all of these are patterns that can be changed. It’s a matter of rewiring our brain. We need to rewire it. Most people don’t know how to do it.

And this is exactly what I specialize in. I’ve been doing this for the past 20 years alhamdulillah. I’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of people, rewiring their brains,  shattering their limiting beliefs, and then gaining that true, authentic confidence to be able to do whatever that they dream of.
